Global Road Safety Facility Strategic Plan (2013-2020)

Overview

Global Road Safety Facility Strategic Plan | 2013-2020

There is growing awareness worldwide that road traffic crashes and injuries represent an unacceptable, and underfunded, public health crisis. Ninety percent of deaths on roads occur in low- and middle-income countries. Road traffic injuries are already the leading cause of death among youths and young adults. Meeting the international goals on road safety thus presents a tough challenge to the global community.

The Global Road Safety Facility (GRSF) is dedicated to the vital issue of road safety, and the activities, measures, and findings that can improve road safety the world over, with emphasis on accelerating and reinforcing the capacity of low and middle-income countries to implement affordable road safety programs.

This strategic plan for 2013-2020 reaffirms the GRSF's mission and sets out how it will contribute to the decade of action, leveraging the global expertise of the World Bank, and working in close collaboration with donors and partners.
